ClientSAT recommends using the latest firmware versions.

As at May 2020, firmware updates are now available for:

  • Iridium 9555
  • Iridium 9575 Extreme
  • Iridium GO! 9560 

The following are no longer supported for upgrades by Iridium:

  • Iridium 9500
  • Iridium 9505
  • Iridium 9505a

Iridium GO!

To display your firmware version, click the left button on the GO! 5 times until Information is seen > Select > Next > Your current Firmware version will be displayed

Iridium GO! SMS date error - Published September 2021
Iridium GO! devices have been incorrectly date stamping SMS/ Text messages (currently dating them 2014 not 2021)
This can result in messages being displayed in an incorrect order or possibly not seen. Location & track SMS messages are also displaying a 2014 date.

Iridium have provided a draft candidate release of the GO 2.1.22 device firmware to solve this problem. Testing to date shows that this firmware resolves the issue.

Normal internet will be required for this as it is a large file not suitable to be downloaded over the Iridium GO! satellite connection.

Version 2.1.22 is not currently available from the Iridium website.

  • Leveraged enhancements offered by the Iridium NEXT constellation to improve network connectivity and improve reception of transceiver ring notifications from the core network.
  • Resolved an issue wherein when the user attempted to enter the SMS menu when the outbox on the SIM was full the handset would reboot.
  • Fixed an issue preventing display of predictive help content.
  • Corrected an issue preventing display of firmware version in French.
  • Updated Iridium branding content in Upgrade Tool.

If your date is incorrect on your 9575 or 9555 please follow this procedure -

To update your Iridium 9555 or Iridium Extreme® satellite phone follow these steps:
1. Dial *#99#2014051114235500#
2. Press the green “send” key.
3. Turn your phone off and then turn it back on.
